And today we have a nice little pair of tulips: one pink, one purple!

Yes, it's just the one, dear! We love purple pansies but don't
get very many of them, so if a single one is the only hybrid we get
that day we're pretty happy!

We've never had a real double spawn, as in two flowers spawned off of the
same group of parents, but this was an exciting discovery (yes, so exciting
it needed a proper frame)!
It was a little less exciting to find that despite putting all of the
black roses in storage, they're still out to dominate Calico!

The 18th brings us one purple tulip.
Here's something to keep in mind. Even if you don't have two hybrids of the
same color, pair up what colors you do have. Your chances are way better of
getting another hybrid color than a throw-back to their parents.

Yes, we know red carnations aren't hybrids, but we have to take pictures
anyway because they're just so special, and this is Calico's first red
carnation baby. <3 Of course the pink rose and purple tulip are nice too.

We also decided we now have enough purple tulips that we can put away all the
red and yellow ones. And since when does red and yellow make purple, anyway?

It wasn't like we meant to cheat or anything, but the next several days actually
have two batches of hybrids per day. What happened was one of our neighbors was
moving out and he was a dream neighbor of someone we knew. We couldn't just
let him disappear into nothingness and none of us had a lot of time so we ended up
getting him moved out in a real hurry, which meant we had to flash through a few days
then go back in time and live them over again. Wow! What an adventure that was! I
want to take more trips in the time machine, but I'm told it's only allowed for very
special reasons.

We took turns watering during these days, so one of us will be in one group of pictures
and the other taking care of the second group. Even though we can't do this all the time
basis it was a fun way to get a few extra hybrid flowers!

We already had four orange pansies that we brought over from Rosetown so we decided to
plant those outside before we went on our time trip.

Do you ever notice how the purple tulips are out doing the pink ones here?

Oops! Looks like one of us forgot to get out of bed on the twenty-first!

We brought orange cosmos from Rosetown too, so here again is another Calico first.
And of course another pink carnation and a pink tulip. <3

And there are a lot more firsts going on! This is the FIRST time I've seen a yellow
rose that I thought looked nice! This is also Calico's first black tulip (the other
one is a Rosetown import).

And that wraps up this week's hybrids! There are plenty more pictures where these came from so stay tuned!
